Flatbeds for dummies...?

I have a 2003 F-350 SRW with bad rear fenderwell rust. It's also a little beat from rubbing a tree or two on some pretty tight logging roads. Anyway, from the doors forward the truck looks great, so I was thinking of just getting rid of the old bed and putting a flatbed on it. Nothing fancy, just a flat bed with stake pockets (I mostly haul firewood which you can't really tie down) and a back rack. I'd want something is plain-jane as possible because I could always add more tie downs, lights, etc...later. The only thing I would add right off the bat is my 60 gallon toolbox tank. I did a search for flatbeds on here and found some companies but everything seems to be a on custom basis. Isn't there anybody out there who just has a basic model that they sell? Also, I'm assuming the most economical way to get one is to pick it up yourself, so does anyone know of a manufacturer in or near New Jersey?

not in NJ but look at hilsboro, cmc, or just make your own they arent hard if you have basic welding skills and tapemesure. Ive made several for alot less than you can buy them. then you can get steel floor or wood floor also.

Yeah, look in the yellow pages of the nearest decent sized town under "truck bodies". They'll probably carry a major brand such as Reading or Knapheid, as well as a local no-name fabricator.

When you talk to them, make it plain that you have a pickup, not a chassis cab. The flatbed makers make them for both pickups and chassis cabs, but they are completely different measurements.

If you want to shop to find the one closest to your dream, then click on the following link and spend a lot of time reviewing the various websites.
Beds and Tow Bodies

Way down near the end of that file notice ABC = America's Body Company. Way back when I wrote that, ABC had a plant in New Jersey. But based on their website today, it looks like Nanticoke PA is the nearest to you now.
ABC

If you are a decent welder, then you might want to try a DIY project. Here's one:

There are some decent aluminum ones on Ebay. I think they are out of PA.
