It's been done plenty of times, a clean swap requires replacing the bumper, lights, grill, and the panel behind them. I forget what it is called offhand but I remember it only costing a few hundred or so dollars. If you want to save money start looking around for a bumper for sale and get it re-painted, this will save you the most money, go to ford to buy the rest or look on craigslist, everything is bolt-on, although you will need a wiring plug adapter for the lights, since the plugs are different on the 05 compared to the 01.
