grab handle for driver side

my 2001 f250 did not come with a grab handle on the driver side. i keep grabing on to my steering wheel and pulling myself up to get in. i was told by doing that a lot it could mess something up in the stearing. is that true and where could i find a grab handle for the driver side?

The factory grab handle is that round thing right in front of the driver's seat. It will not mess up the steering.

our trucks downunder come with a grab on both sides.
my old 99 after it was converted to rhd, i ended up with the grab. wifey then had none on her side.
but the grab handle is just the same for both side ,just turn it around. i bought one down here for my 99.
to drill the holes though is a different story, you have to get hold of a drill with a 90 degree head, otherwise i would think you would have to pull your window out.
remember measure twice and cut once. mark the plastic on the pillar and cut in small sections ,checking the grab fit as you go. once you get that fit pull it off and drill.i think from memmory i used self drilling self tapping screws

I put one on my 99.

You need the buy the handle and the A pillar cover as it is easier if you buy the newer style plastic A pillar cover as it will tell you exactly where to put the handle/bolts. I used 1/4 20 rivnuts to fasten mine.

Call john wood at John Wood Automotive - Home i believe i saw a couple laying around there from 03 and up trucks..probably from when he's done a couple of guage installs. Don't know for sure though...my memory is going bad. I'm sure he'd ship one to u right away if he had it. Sorry John if this is incorrect!

I've been pulling myself in via the wheel for 6 years now. No problems at all. I do have running boards though.

Over a long period of time of using the steering wheel to pull yourself into the truck it will wear out the internals of the column. It happened to my buddies 94 F-250. The PO put a lift on it and used the steering wheel to pull himself in and wound up having to replace the column itself.
