Question Hubcentric wheels

Does it really matter if aftermarket wheels are hub centric or lug centric? How many people have encountered sheared studs when using lug centric wheels?

I know certain people are gonna pop up and say you HAVE TO HAVE hubcentric. 90% of the wheels made for our trucks are not hubcentric. Very few manufactures make hubcentric wheels for us. LOTS of people doing just fine with lug centric. I have personally never heard of any sheared studs cause somebody wasnt using a hub centric wheel. And I'm in Tx, the truck capitol of the world lol

i sheared off five studs on the passenger front...it was an interesting ride. i dont know if it was the wheels not being hubcentric or because the ball joint was installed improperly. i still have the same wheels and haven't had anymore problems.

Send a message via ICQ to kcastle
I've had 3 wheel studs sheared off at 80mph, and all of the other lug nuts coming loose. After replacing the studs, and checking the torque specs once in a while. I've never had it happen again.

Seared studs is mainly from over and improper tightening not from non hub centric.

I recently replaced the wheels on my '01. I went with the hubcentric Ultra Predator 8 with the chrome finish. They were about the same price as similar chrome finish wheels and really look good on the truck.

Hopefully this is not a hit and run...
Hubcentric does help alleviate improper torquing though, to a point.
You can't fix stupid...

I already have Weld wheels. I wanted to find some others but only one has the specs to fit our truck properly the Ultras listed above. I guess I got to find a powdercoater now.
