HID's are the best thing since sliced bread if you ever drive at night. Street signs "pop" and much easier to read. Great!!!

What year trucks are you guys running these in? I have heard the 02-04 don't work as well with those housings. That the 05-07 housing works much better.
Are you afraid the housings will melt? Keep your eyes on them. That seemed to be a problem with the HID in the pre 05 trucks.

As for the other comment. Your right HID is the new waive. Ride it! I think LED will come around in the near feature. Well see.
Regarding the comment if it will melt. I have a heat gun that measure the hid vs stock headlight. The hid is cooler! 149* stock and 89* hid. I have the photos.

I installed bixenons in my truck and just installed HID projectors(H1) in my dads SD. Does anybody elses truck stumble or stall when they turn on theyre headlights, especially after just starting the truck?
Try waiting about 4 minutes so the glow plugs cycle off and see if you have the same problem. If you don't then a bigger alternator will be needed. Test by putting a Digital VOM across the battery terminals.
"Not DOT Approved" = Not approved for Highway Use. Run at your own risk. Just gives the PD a reason for pulling you over.
I must admit that the OEM headlights are the worst I have ever seen on a vehicle.
I run 35 watt 4300K on Bosch fog lights pointed down so they don't blind anyone.
If you are running HIDs in stock lights designed for halogen bulbs while looking cool you are blinding the hell out of everyone.
If you didn't put projectors in so that they are contained and provide a cutoff as they should than OUCH.
I have to pull my headlights and heat them in the oven or with a heat gun to split the lens from the casing. Then you need to mount the projectors into the casing and build a cover for the bulb area that has some moisture resistance.
It is a lot of work but done right no PD will pull you over and question what you are doing. Done wrong and you are a target.
I have seen maybe 3 trucks out of say 1000 that have projectors while the 20 or so seen with HIDs are truly blinding people. Yeah it is easy to stick a kit into our trucks but it sure as hell is not responsible.

BLAH BLAH BLAH, dude you have no idea what you are talking about! I have had drop in HIDS from Retro Solutions for a while know. And I there is hnundreds of people on this forum that have the same. Also have three to four buddies that have the same.
If the Hids are aimed right they will not blind anyone. I never get flashed when my low beams are on. I think HIDS are one of the best mods you can do to our trucks.

I am adding as much stainless steel as possible to the back of my truck and keeping it as clean as possible just for those people behind me with HID kits.
I also power my left mirror out towards the left lane at night. It's interesting how fast most of these vehicles that blind you when you look in the mirror to chance lanes don't spend much time behind me before they pass......
I put the bi (high/low) 50 watt 4300k lights in my '02 over a year ago - fantastic light output and no problems. I also installed 35 watters in my driving lamps - also no problems. (both on harnesses). Make sure you do it responsibly - mark on a wall or garage door where your regular low beams hit, then install the lights and adjust to the same point. Only been flashed once in the past year – by someone in a Miata or similar “roller skate” high car – but probably would have been anyway even with the stock lights.
The cutoff on the driving lamps is impressive - very bright up to 18" from the ground, then within one inch higher, nothing - nice and flat. These bulbs (#9145) come with a shield on the glass to prevent going higher and blinding people. I've seen people use the H10 bulb instead, but it doesn't have the shield and shouldn't be used.
Unless you NEVER do anything but city driving go with the bixenon bulbs so you don't lose the high beams. Although the light output doesn't change, the beam angle really does make them high beams.
Keep the color 5K or less for maximum lumens, and to keep you looking "factory".

Uh, ok. Whatever. Ive seen plenty of gay stainless steel on the back of our trucks and I dont get blinded from the reflection. Because, THEY ARE AIMED RIGHT!
