I have searched the FAQ and found the piece on stopping the 'dinging' sound when the key is in ignition and door is open
Quote:
Mod Name: "Key-in-Ignition" Door Dinger Delete Mod Mod Difficulty: Tools Required: Time to Perform: Mod Description: Removes that annoying dinging sound when your
key is in the ignition and the door is open. Turn ignition to RUN
(do not start), insert prodding tool in hole under ignition and
press the small ball/detent while pulling on ignition cylinder -
ignition cylinder will come out. Look closely at the removed
cylinder and find the small brass contact. You can wrap a bit of
tape around it or simply pull it off. Reinsert ignition cylinder;
it will click into place. Alternate method is to cut the black with
pink tracer wire that runs up to the ignition cylinder.
I have removed my ign cylinder but unsure as to what the brass contact looks like, I tried taping over the only electrical connector i could see but it didnt make any difference, i noticed a small brass connector inside the barrel of the ignition and taped that over but still the noise persists, i am obviously doing something wrong, has anyone got a photo or diagram pointing to the culprit in question?
If the tape doesn't work try removing the wire and metal strip from the cylinder hole. Gently pry it out, wrap some tape around the contact and tuck it out of your way.

Thanks for the reply Joe, unfortunately nothing has worked.
I tried the tape over the contact as per photo, no luck. I then unscrewed the lower steering column panel and pulled the wire and contact out of the cylinder, taped it over but still no luck, got me stumped as i would have expected that to stop the noise. My F250 is a RHD Brazillian built 04' model if that makes any difference?
could it be the seat belt not being latched?
I unplugged mine under the seat, stopped one of the chimes.
I did the same taped over the contact thing.
My truck dings for just a few seconds.....aas long as it takes the check engine light to go off? then its done.
The wire with the little metal contact you removed and taped over is the one that I have removed on at least 5 trucks. It worked on everyone of them. Yours must be wired in an odd ball way. Sorry I can't help more.

Definately not HighPSI i removed it completely taped it and tucked it up behind the plastic cover. This has bamboozled me because what else could it be, i find it very unusual if my truck would be different to the USA built ones,
I have a auto sparky mate whom i will get to check things out when he calls over next, let you all know then.
