LED Warning Strobes

Fellas,

I need some good refrences for some High Power LED Warning Strobes.

Looking for a set that can burn through tint and that I can mount in the rear bumper and grill.

I've looked around on ebay and seen tons of LED's from cheap ones to pretty expensive setups. Don't know too much about them but some says to stick with Gen 3 type. I guess there the brightest out. Who knows...I know I don't.

So...if you got some pro's and cons about some setups let me know...I'll appreciate it!

JB

I've been out of the game for a few years, but I always went with Whelen or 911EP lights on my truck. They never let me down. As expensive as they are, I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for".

Agreed with above Whelen and 911EP both good. Whelen was the last set we put on a customers truck....been about a year ago.

If you want it to burn through tint, stay away from the 5mm LED, go with Super LED.

That's one serious truck Brendon. I can't expense 5k on LED's. I'm going to try Ebay and see what I can find. If I do buy one...I'll post it and give you guys my opinion.

I've built cars for a drug inforcement taskforce before and they all had heavy tint in the windows. If you get the LED module close enough to the window then they will show up. If you are planning on lighting up the sky while the sun is still out then you'll have to spend some money regardless.

do you want strobes or LEDs? they are 2 different things. I am running a dash led and 2 LED split color Able 2 lights on the top of my bed rail rear facing. Front is red/amber/red and rear is red/blue on each side. Again, you get what you pay for, but obviously you have to fit it in a budget. I am also doing a headlight flasher this weekend and finishing up my siren. no light efficiently cuts through tint. Brighter lights will sort of cut through, but the tint is still going to kill the effectiveness. get a water proof light and run them outside. Able 2 just introduced an LED that goes in your head/tail lights like the old hide away strobes do. they are super bright and offer a lot of patterns. Very effective.

what are you looking for? colors? front/rear facing? what is your application (tow truck, fire fighter, just cuz)?

I understand the difference between the two types. I'm more interested in using LED's since there bright and sharp. Will go with amber/red or amber/white most likely. Haven't decided yet.

I started up a boat transport company down here in Florida pulling sometimes oversized vessels. I just need some warning lights to alert some of these retarded drivers down here.

I'm going to try some LED's off ebay and see if there worth it. They're the gen3 type LED's so let's see if they're worth it. We got a local shop down here that sells the same type of LEDs but they're name brands. They're also super expensive. They deal alot with the police and goverment vehicles so they can get away with those kind of prices.

Like I said if I get some LED's I'll post some remarks about them.

Then please only use AMBER. Red is to be reserved for emergency vehicles, white should be the same way IMO. White overrides the amber and keep in mind your state laws about this while doing so.

Lights have become over abused by nearly everybody now. It started with school buses running a single clear strobe on the back and now every time you turn around a chicken feed truck running up and down the interstate has an amber strobe on each mirror on the cab. WHY? It's a FEED truck not a utility/service vehicle! It irritates me to also see escorts running clear LEDs.

Relax MadattheworldMoe....your opinion on why people use or don't use warning strobes is irrelevant on my post.If you have an issue with some local farmers transporting chickens in your boon town that's your problem. All I know it's legal for me to use those colors in my state. Second...I just need to know what's the best LED setup for my money.

that may be true in your state, but not in every. check your facts. in texas for example police can use red/blue, fire is supposed to be red only, and amber is available for anyone else that needs/wants it. there is no law that says you cant put amber and green and purple strobes all over your car and play the mexican hat dance all through town (as long as the broadcast cant be heard over 50 ft away) I run red/blue/amber and white on my f250. Have been running a combo of those colors for the past 10 years. the fact is people dont pay attention when they drive. it isnt anything related to the over abundance of emergency lights being used out there.

I can drive a 35ft long firetruck with 3 lightbars, 4 strobes on the front bumper, 2 sirens, an airhorn AND me yelling obscenities at the dumb guy in front of me and he cant see or hear me over his wife yelling at him over his cell phone while he is eating taco bell and blaring the radio. Then he has the nerve to flip me off when I pass him in the turning lane (did i mention it was HIS house on fire).
