Re: Line-X or similar as "Stone Guard"

Explain to me what this DuPont Nason is. Is it a clear coat for coatings? Is it just for looks in beds where there isn't much use? I know on mine it had gotten pretty gritty and dull looking, however I haven't really given it a good scrub down yet. Do all Line-X dealers know about this stuff and why don't they all use it if it is as good as you say? Chris

Re: Line-X or similar as "Stone Guard"

DuPont Ful-Thane Nason is a urethane based automotive paint. Since it's urethane based, it actually bonds to LINE-X. It's glossy and won't fade. Nason is what some LINE-X dealers use for color code matched bedliners. Black Nason can be used on black bedliners also.

LINE-X corporate does not train dealers on the use of Nason. I don't know how or when Nason use was originated. Why doesn't LINE-X officially train dealers? I don't really know, I suspect that it's because Nason is not a LINE-X product. LINE-X Xtra, available in black now and hopefully in colors by the end of the year, is a LINE-X product and is supported by Corporate.

I was fortunate to have trained with a dealer who has been using Nason (with LINE-X) for years. Many of the dealers who have been around a while have learned the technique. It looks and works great.

Re: Line-X or similar as "Stone Guard"

Thanks for the word. I will have to call my local dealer and see if they know anything about it. If not maybe just the typical stuff, Thanks, Chris

Re: Line-X or similar as "Stone Guard"

Bobcat, is that the color of the finsihed produce or was it painted after it was applied? I like that, I have an Arizona Beige truck, I guess I would have to have mine painted?

That color is the finished product, it wasn't painted.
I'm pretty sure they can color match it.

Re: Line-X or similar as "Stone Guard"

you know several years back a "stone chip guard" was actually sprayed onto the Explorers in the same location, they did this on a couple of model years, but then stopped.

Did it on my van w/ LineX. Rocker panels up to the first seam in the body panel including the door sills and under and around the fenders front and back. I love it and it looks great.

I had my door sills done as well.. GOOD IDEA! My paint was all gone there from boots scuffing it off.
