Re: lowering 4by4

If the rear blocks are 4 inch you can swap them for the F250 2inch blocks.

Re: lowering 4by4

Ive never heard of this problem with a ford before. I know alot of the 99-era dodges had recalls because the rear end sat too high for alot of fifth wheels.

From our very own FAQ under the 99+ Super duty TSB section:

99-14-5 - Rear Suspension too high/low with a 5th Wheel

Problem - Clearance concerns may occur when using the vehicle to tow certain gooseneck trailers

Action - Ride height may be reduced or increased ON SOME VEHICLES BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/14/99. The only authorized adjustments allowed are:

Lower the vehicle by changing the 4" (10 cm)spacer to a 2" spacer (5 cm) along with the other rear suspension hardware.
Raise vehicles that are percieved as riding too low and that have had TSB 98-17-2 performed with the 2" spacer (5 cm) block along with other rear suspension hardware

Re: lowering 4by4

i had the very same problem as you. my original blocks were 4". ford removed them all together, which made the back sit lower than the front, looked like crap and caused driveline vibration. they then put 2" blocks in and i think had to shim the carrier support some, everything is fine for me now. my 5'er has adjustable spring shackles and i have it set to the tallest position. hope this helps.

Re: lowering 4by4

Don't know your current setup but a common modification up here is to move your trailer axles to the bottom of the spring if your trailer's axles are above the spring. This usually makes a 5th wheel trailerable behind a stock F-350.
We towed a swapped axle 5th wheel behind a 2003 F-250 with a 4" lift and 35's with no problems.
You're sticking out in the wind a bit more but I guess it just depends on what you want.
