Manual Remote Start

Hi guys, I am looking to surprise my boyfriend with a remote vehicle starter for our '05 F350 XLT.

I did a search for remote car starters for diesel engines, and came up with lots of answers...but none that I am looking for.

He works a lot in Northern Canada, where temperatures drop to -40 and even -50 degrees celcius. When it's that cold, he insists on warming the glow plugs twice, even if the truck is plugged in.

So....I'd like to find a remote starter that will allow you to warm the glow plugs manually, instead of just delaying the engine start to allow glow plugs to warm. Is there such a thing? If there isn't, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm totally clueless!

the only way i think u would be able to do this is to just buy one with a delay and if he has to cycle them twice he will have to hit the button then cancle it and hit the button again. i think.

Most if not all of the remote starters out there have an AUX output. This can be set to activate a relay upon a button press that will turn on and warm the glow plugs either until pressed again or for a timed period.

when I did mine, you could program the glow plug timer for different set points, I have it set for 10 seconds, I think there were 4 different set points to choose from, I would have to look at the manual to see the exact choices. Instead of it cycling twice, just change the time on setting.

Yes, but I don't want a remote starter that just warms the glow plugs, I want one that warms the glow plugs twice.

My viper 791xv will try to start the truck as soon as the glow plugs finish their cycle, if it does not start the first time then it waits 60 seconds and tries again. 2 glow plug cycles, with 2 start attempts.

But is there a way to ensure that it cycles your glow plugs twice?

Nevermind, thanks for all the replies, everyone!! I was referred to someone who was able to help. He'll have to rig it up custom, but it should do what we need.
