needing help on gear vendors splitter

hey guys I drive a 2001 7.3 f250 SWR. it currently has the 3.73 axle ratio. First off, is it correct to say its an f350 because it has the factory camper helper springs and I can put a set of 4'' blocks on it? I realize issues with insurance paying on wrecks with overload.

anyway, I would like to dive into a project involving the gear vendor splitter and a new axle ratio. My question: Right now my 70 mph cruise with factory torque converter locked is about 2200 rpm. With the double overdrive, my goal is highway cruise at 1500-1800. Will the 3.73 bring my double overdrive too low? So I probably need the 4.10 right? And then I might as well just rebuild the 3rd member right? Suggestions on building a bulletproof sterling 10.5? (good aftermarket axle guts).

Thanks for all the help.

Welcome to TheDieselStop

Something isn't adding up unless you have teeny tires on your rig.

My truck has 265/75R16's with 3.73 ratio gears and 70 mph cruise is barely over 2000 rpm. The 235/85R16's (the other stock size) are the same exact rolling diameter. My truck is a 6-speed, but the engine rpm should be the same in OD with an auto tranny.

I don't think that you need to change gears to 4.10's. The gear vendors OD unit should work just fine.

I have 285/75/16's. Its probably more like 2100rpm after looking at it today.
