My truck has 97,000 miles and I thought it was about time for shocks. After reading the forums for information I chose the NAPA branded Reflex shocks made by Monroe. The oem shocks I took off were a little weak with one of the rear shocks leaking slightly and one of the fronts had lost pressure would not rebound after manually compressing it fully. I was pleased with the improvement in handling. Body roll decreased significantly on curvey roads.
Timbrens installed! I bought a set of Timbrens for the rear of my truck about a year ago and finally installed them. They work great especially pulling my 12,000 lb. fifth wheel through the mountains. Stability and handling improved greatly! The ride was on not affected loaded or unloaded. I did the shocks first and the Timbrens several days later so as to determine the results of each upgrade independently. My truck was level loaded with the fifth wheel trailer but with the Timbens the bed came up about 1 1/4" loaded. Unloaded the Timbrens rubber spring was about did not even touch the axle (about 1/2" clearence). I hit a few potholes and ran over a railroad crossing with no difference in ride quality. I highly reccomend the Napa Reflex shocks and the Timbren rubber springs.

I put the reflex shocks on my F 250 shortbed supercab and really like them.
I just put them on my F 350 DRW long bed crewcab and can hardly stand the ride. I think the dampening is a little to tight for my truck. The handling is much improved on smooth roads. Even big dips and pot holes are not to bad.
It's the little dips and washboard portions of the road that are terrible. When I go over a small bridge just north of town, stuff sitting in the back seats just about bounces to the floor. I've got to try something elese.
Where did you get your Timbrens? I am interested in a set.. going to be hauling a 32' gooseneck two car hauler...14k lbs

I bought the Timbrens from a web site quite a while ago but I wouldn't reccomend them. I did a quick search and found this site and the price looks pretty good. www.Torklift.com
Update: I like the idea of putting the Timbrens on and forgeting about them. I had air shocks on a Bronco once upon a time and I had to air them up with a load and let the air out when unloaded. Unless you go to the expense of an on board compressor, guages, wiring controls etc. air bags are not for me. Timbrens are working great for me for less than $175.00. Installation is simple about 10 minutes per spring.
