OEM Navigation Radio in 05 F250 Can it be done?

Has anyone tried to put a Factory Nav radio in a Super Duty?

Do all the steering wheel controls still work?
Is it a direct bolt in or does it involve a lot of work?
I have a shop that was a radio from a totaled 05 Navigator that they will sell me.
Thanks

do I search, there was a post on this on the general upgrades a while back. If I recall, it was not an easy thing to do. Eclipse, pioneer and kenwood all make dbl din touch screen radios, gps and kitchen sink units.

The OEM gps units are generally not as good as the aftermarket units made by garmin, tomtom and others.

Re: OEM Navigation Radio in 05 F250 Can it be done?

I bought my wife a new excursion, The factory Ford Nav system was cheesey, I looked at many alternatives. I had Al & Ed's put in a AVIC-D1 Nav system, It's awesome and is very expandable. With the AVIC-D1 they put in an adapter that uses the steering wheel controls just like they controlled the factory radio, She also has Siruis Satellite Radio controlled by steering wheel controls, Video from an alpine DVD player and drop down moniter for kid, iPod adapter that you can also control with the steering wheel controls and a parrot blue tooth hands free phone kit that mutes the stereo when in use, Dont waste your money on a factory nav kit when you can an aftermarket system that has tons of options and integrates with the factory steering wheel controls, She loves it and her previous car was a n 04' BMW 745i with Nav and this Nav systems is way better than that one. Again just my opinion.

[/ QUOTE ] Sounds like she doesn't ever have to take her hands off the steering wheel except to maybe touch up her lipstick. LOL

Re: OEM Navigation Radio in 05 F250 Can it be done?

The thing is I should be able to get the OEM Nav radio for less than $300 and the shop will sell my old radio and give me some cash back. I wasn't looking to spend the $1499 that Crutchfield wants. But the AVIC-D1 will be something I look at if the OEM system doesn't work. Thanks
