Puradyn Bypass Oil Filter

Anyone have experience with the Puradyn Bypass Oil Filter?

I'm thinking of installing one on my 2003 F-250 stroker and don't want to lay out big bucks for something that doesn't work as advertised.

You will find more Oilguard filters than anything else. There are few Amsoil, FS2500, Frantz or Gulfcoast filter users but I have never seen anyone with a Puradyn filter.

Link to Puradyn

I've been looking at all the bypass oil filters I can find. The link below will take you to their web site. They have tons of commercial customers.

Let me know what you think as I haven't bought one yet.

I have been watching these by-pass filter threads with some interest.
I had an original Amsoil by-pass setup 20+ years ago, all I can say that I remember about it was "WHAT A FRIGGIN MESS!!!"
It also was a canister filter with a replaceable element.
I will NEVER by another canister type ANYTHING!
I want a spin-on filter. I will pay extra for it. I don't like the extra clean up, the spills and general hassles.

Just something to keep in mind.

Bill.

Excellent point, I too, have a LF-9027 sitting on my shelf, awaiting another 500 miles or so to install.
I can't wait to put it on and see how well it does.

FYI, the Fleetguard LF-9027 is a Strata-pore filter with a built-in "by-pass" filter.
Actually, since the oil flows from the filter to the engine oil journals, it can't officially be called a "by-pass".

And before you ask, IIRC, $27 at powerstrokeshop.com

The 9027 is pretty poorly rated in bypass filter standards! 30 microns at 98 some percent and 10 microns at 50%. A standard wix filter is rated at 20 microns at 98 percent or so.

Puradyn filters

I am currently using two puradyn filters on 7.3 econolines. The hardest part about the filter is finding where to mount it. The filter change is fast and easy once you learn to let the system cool down first. They claim the filtration is less than one micron. There is some talk that they are about to annouce a military deal. Hope this helps

Keep it coming!

I really appreciate the feedback on the various bypass oil filters. Since the Puradyn is not a spin-on it makes me wonder if the filter change would be a big mess. I haden't considered that before an earlier post.

What impressed me a lot while looking around the Puradyn web site is that they have many, many commercial users that appear to keep buying the Puradyn. The test report on their web site is also impressive to me.

I guess I'd have to say that at this point I'm still undecided about which unit to buy. Keep the feedback coming. I've learned a lot on this forum. Don't want to make a mistake by blowing my hard earned money on a dud.

Here's a documented test done by fleetguard where they found that puradyn does not perform to OE standards:
"Fleetguard Test Findings

Fleetguard's soot drawdown test confirmed the puraDYN system has no measurable impact on soot levels in a lube oil system. The filter failed to meet the Cummins specified required flow at the rated inlet pressure. Based on the results of this evaluation, the puraDYN oil filtration system is not recommended for use on Cummins engines."

And here's puradyn's rebuttal to be fair. Good luck

Puradyn or FS-2500 Bypass Oil Filter

Appreciate the information on various bypass oil filters you guys are using. I have, however, become a little skittish about the Amsoil unit due to many negative comments I've read. Guess it also concerns me that I've read that Amsoil dealers frequent these forums plying their wares. Nothing wrong with that I guess....I'm just looking for the straight scoop from those who don't have a dog in the fight.

I've been looking seriously at the Puradyn but have also become interested in the FS-2500. In looking around this and other forums, the 2500 seems to get rave reviews with no one bashing them. What I don't like about it is the price, even though it is a small price to pay for a clean engine and perhaps extended oil change intervals.

Sure do appreciate any feedback.

I have had the fs-2500 and now have the Amsoil dual-by-pass and after having both I believe Amsoil out preforms all of the others. Remember removing the soot out of our oil is the most important additional filtering can never hurt IMO.
