Rearview Camera Question

I just purchased a rearview camera that fits onto mylicense plate. Inside the truck I have a valor touchscreen radio. The person I bought the radio from toldme that allI have to do is tap my power wire into the reverse light wirethen run the wire to the back of the radio wear I should see a reverse camera wire and connect to that so when I put mytruck into reverse the radio will automatically go into camera mode. My question is this correct info before I start the install or is there any tips anyone has as to makethis easier. I have a 02 250 if that matters with the question.. Thanks!!

I also haev a rear view camera, but i ddin't hook it into my reverse wire. I added a seperate switch so I can turn the camera on whenever I want.

The instructions you have sound correct though.
