Single vs Duel Shocks

Do you think dual shocks will ride better, stiffer,ect... than one shock ?

I run dual bilstein's up from with my 4.5" edge lift. I think it rides great..i've ridden in others..can't tell the difference..IMO, it looks way better.

Typical dual shock setups aren't for and won't add any stiffness. Each shock has half(roughly) the dampening of a regular single shock . Both added together gives the same as one. What they provide is better(less) fade under heavy use. With each shock only doing half the work, they don't get hot as quick or as hot, so they have less fade and work better under heavy duty conditions. Performance shocks with reservoirs work on the same idea. More oil and a place to cool it works better than hot oil in a shock.

Not really correct for Bilsteins.. example..#5150 come in 2 different rates..170/60 and 255/70..as you can see its not double. Depending on springs, weight of the truck etc you decide dampening rate. I typically don't recommend duals for anything but Excursions. 2ea 170/60 will be a little stiffer than 1 170/60 or 1 255/70. But duals sure do look great..run them myself.

Cary

So short answer is a single Bilstein will be softer than duals

Thanks for the info, truck has been riding a little bit rougher for the last few months, probably gonna get new shocks.I'm not a big fan of my 5100's, I might go for the 7100's they seem popular around here.

i couldn't believe the difference the bilstein's made from stock..especially offroad on those little pesky whoop-de-doos. or when i had my slide in camper. Good luck
