small ealry track bar to newer larger one?

My truck is a 99.5 build date is (1/99) so it has the smaller track bar. I want to change it to the late style that has the larger bolts.

What parts do I need to do it?

Stock ride height.

I have a bit of wander on the highway and it makes a griding noise when the front suspention move alot.

I may need to replace the steering box but I know this is bad so I will do it first.

You are gonna need to replace the upper mount, it bolts onto the frame so not a big deal. The lower attachment is a welded on part of the axle so not sure how you are gonna change that, maybe you could drill it out with a large drill bit? As far as that goes I guess you could also drill out the upper mount as well. If you have some dollars laying around you could install a later Dana 60 front axle which has the larger track bar mounts, and have a better axle to boot.

Good luck with it.

I just looked at that lower mount and see that it is welded to the axle.

So does the larger track bar have a wider bushing sleave or will opening the holes be all it needs?

I will just take the upper off and open it in the shop and the lower I can do with a reamer.

My brothers truck has the 60 in it so I could just "watch" his truck for him while he is on vacation????
