What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

I just bought a 2006 F250 lariate Diesel fully loaded and now im trying to figure out what the BEST Sysatem for remote start / alarm to buy ? can any one help me out ? I want delayed start up and delayed shut down

Allso dose any one know if i can buy something that will allow me to type in my passcode on my door and it will disarm the new alarm i install, i like being able to type in the code and get into the truck so i want to retain that option.

Compustar does everything but the passcode. You may be SOL on that one?

Re: What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

I just put the Vipor XV-560 on mine this week-end and it works great. It also has the Turbo timer but the timer works off a set amount of time not temp. But the Key pad will not disarm the alarm.

Nothing, just a lot more bells and whistles with the aftermarket units. Mile+ range for starters (no pun).

guess i dont see the point in long distance remote start...
mine sits in the drive way at home (most of the time).

now if i lived in alaska i can see why i might want to be
remote starting it @ work or where ever....hell i probably
wouldnt wanna shut it down...but then im not gonna walk
a mile in your weather either...ill be frozen dead before
i could i get to the warm/already running truck

Re: What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

The factory unit is sweet . It runs for 10 minutes, then shuts down. We've found that if we are a 10 minute walk away, it starts at that distance. I regularily hit the button, turn the ignition off, take the keys and lock the doors. The only thing it doesn't do is come pick me up.

Re: What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

I've had the Python 881XP 2-Way Security and Remote Start System with Responder Technology on my truck for over a year now and love it. Remote start, cool down and with the transponder I get notified if there are issues on the truck.

Re: What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

The "Python" is made by DEI and is also marketed under the name "Viper". DEI is the largest alarm manufacturer and also makes most of the remote starts for OEM application. With the viper or python you can wire it two ways. 1) use the glow plug light on a trigger and when it goes off the car will start. 2) there is a module I believe is called the 528T(I may be wrong)$29. It is a specific timer that is set and does not sense any trigger or voltage change. Waits 15, 30, 45 seconds and vroom.

You cannot go wrong with a DEI alarm. I am not so fond of thier video pieces and other electronics but there alarms are top notch. The only thing that you should be concerned about is the quality of the installer. The 16 year part-time hobbiest/apprentice is not your best choice. Look for a minimum of MECP 1st class installers, master preffered but hard to find.

Re: What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

Ford Gold + Remote Start will disarm via keypad, at least mine does. I went back to the dealer for alarm install after I found out the SD's have NO security on them. The dealer offered alarm + remote for an additional $100 so I took it. Best thing I ever did. Now the truck is nice and toasty when I get in it first thing in the morning. The dealer sub'd the work out to a local ford authorized installer. He screwed it up the 1st and 2nd times = remote start tripping alarm. 3rd time he got it right and it's been good since.

The range for the remote is excellent. It has worked every time I tried it. Maybe as far away as 450-500yds. Don't see why you'd need any more distance.

Re: What Remote Start Alarm to get ?!?! 06 Diesel f250

Well, I got one for Christmas...bless her heart!

It's a Code Alarm CA-610...not sure if it is a good or bad one, but it's what I have...

Now, to figure out how to install it...there are a TON of wires to connect!

Anybody have an '06 ignition switch wiring diagram??

Hope so...I'd hate to have to probe voltages for something like this!

Anxiously awaiting anybody's answer!

Thanks,

Chip
