I thought the dealer tech could simply enter 601 as the desired value when reprogramming the computer for taller tires but when I took my truck in to get recalibrated they told me it was done by entering tire sizes until he got one with the desired revs per mile. He was able to get me to 602 before he got tired of messing with it.
If anyone knows the exact tire size to use to get 601 please post it here.

As a backup does anyone know of any other sizes that work out to 601 in case the dealers system doesn't know or recognize that size?
You could very well input tire sizes all day and the Ford computer may never give you 601 RPM. You would have to know how the computer sees/calculates tire RPM. If you look at tires of the same size from various manufacturers, they very well may not have the same exact RPM. The Toyo M/T 275/65R20 may be 601 RPM, but when you input that size in the computer it will be 605 RPM based on the way the Ford computer sees/calculates that size.
If you found a tire size that gave you 602 RPM it is probably a waste of your time to try and get the 601 RPM.

Which is EXACTLY why I am looking for info as to a size that is KNOWN to give a 601 result in Ford's system. Like I said the 602 is still slightly off so I want to use a 601 result to get it as close as possible without having to buy a programmer.
Is your comment on the Toyo's based on actual experience or are you just using it for an example of how things might not match up?

In the Ford computer 275/65R20 is recognized as 605 RPM.
Do you have any idea what size was used to give you 602 RPM?

So it looks like I am still in need of a tire size that will come up as 601 on Ford's system then. Or is there a way to simply get the computer to accept an input of 601 somehow?
The tech told me the size he used but I didn't think to write it down at the time and now I don't remember what it was.

This is why most of us are saying to stay with 602 RPM. For all we know there may be no tire size that the computer will recognize as 601 RPM.
On my '04 when you enter the ABS module to change tire size, there is one screen that allows you to select from a set list of tire sizes. There is also a screen that will allow you to input custom RPM's. With that all you have to do is input the RPM number you desire. Unfortunately it appears that Ford removed the ability to input custom RPM's on '05-up trucks....
