2wd ball joint replacement

Looking for info on replacing upper ball joints. Manual says as of printing no replacement . Surely somebody knows how.

Re: 2wd ball joint replacement

Do a search on this site. Someone has the replacement procedures posted for a 4WD. They will give you all the data you need for the job on a 2WD. NAPA or another good parts place can provide Moog replacement ball joints to fit your truck. I did mine last year using those instructions.

Re: 2wd ball joint replacement

It's really pretty straight forward. Mark the caster pills before you disassemble so it will be close on reassembly. I knocked the old ones out with an air hammer, and pressed the new ones in, took about 1 hr per side.

Re: 2wd ball joint replacement

Had to take the rotors, backing plates, ABS sensor & tie rod off the steering knuckle, knuckle off the truck. Could've pressed the old ball joints out, but just as easy to drive them out with the air hammer or a BFH. You might as well do uppers AND lowers while you have it apart.
