AC Fan Stuck on High Speed

Fan stuck on High Speed, even when turned off?

2006 Lariat CrewCab 4x4 SB Diesel. Has electronic AC. Can run the green bar up and down, but the “fan” stays on High?

Where is the problem?

Re: AC Fan Stuck on High Speed

Either the switch or the fan. Both are easy to change.

Re: AC Fan Stuck on High Speed

On my '01 (should be the same), the resistor pack burned out. It is in the blower motor housing under the hood. It should be a warranty fix for your '06??

[/ QUOTE ]I think it is the fan control resister also , it is usually in the air stream to help keep it cool..On older veh's it used to be three separate coils of different thickness wire, now they are transistors or what ever, with a heat sink attached,,, under the hood or under the dash....

Re: AC Fan Stuck on High Speed

Thanks for the help guys, and also Diesel Jay. I think I know what it is; and yes it is most likely the blower module control thing stuck on the box next to the fan under the hood. Hopefully, this will not be beyond the skill set of "another" Ford dealer over one hour away.

Ford could sell 4 times the trucks in my area, if they fired all the local dealers, got new owners, and saw to it people are trained to work on this stuff.

Same thing happened to my 05 F350 yesterday, did you resolve the "fan stuck on high" issue?

Sorry to butt in on this thread. I have a fan issue with my 2K too. My fan doesn't work all the time. heat or cold, I have to mess with the control & fan switch( turning it back and forth to get it to work. It has 200K miles on it. I'm not sure what switch is making it finally work. This summer a few months ago I couldn't get it to blow anything but hot air on A/C the next day it was fine. Problem crops up randomly.

Where is a good place to start looking for the problem?
After reading his tread, I'm guessing switch or the resistor under hood.
Is one more likely the problem over the other?
