air

Hello everyone.

I have had a problem with my cabin air selection. It has been on defrost and will not switch to any other selction. Is the control switch fowled? and how do I test this, Or is it a vacume hose that is faulty and where do I start to look for damage? Or is there another problem with it....

Thx for any help...

Re: air

You have a vacuum system leak. Vacuum controls the mixer, and the default position is "defrost". most likely culprit is the hoses to the auto hubs, but it could be any where in the vacuum system.

Re: air

It has been going to defrost on and off, then i changed the auto hub vacume hoses out and put new ones in and now it is stuck on defrost.

Re: air

Had to purchase a electric vacuum pump (available only at Ford, $136.00) to fix mine. It sits under the hood on the passenger fender. If it's the pump, you should be able to hear it run with the AC Fan on low and the engine off. If not the pump, the posts above are correct, must be a vacuum hose leak.

Re: air

THe vac pump is runing and when I plug the main suction with my finger the pump shuts down. I played with the 4x4 hoses by plugind them off and the system came back online "heat controls". Then I plug the hoses back in and everything ran fine until i selected the 4x4 then it went back to my defrost. Q: I just did my upper and lower ball joints, and all that jazz. I also changed the vac seals in the hub bodys both sides is there a special way of placing them back toghther my book didn't say to much about them so it was by the seat of my pants.....
