Any highly detrimental effects of tig welding these holes in this 6BTA block?

Ok guys,

I have been told that I could have a professional, tig weld these holes in this engine block and use the engine again. I was told that the holes were cut in an area that is not highly stressed and it would not affect the engine once it has been properly tig welded again.

Please advise.

Here is a picture of a Cat Block we did and it is still in service(No problems,No Leaks). They hydro-locked the piston and put it threw the side of the motor. If the shop knows what they are doing then you should be OK for a stock application. If you are trying to use this motor in a High Performance application , then you need a new block.

The last block that came my way that looked like that was a military block that they did not want anyone to use....The engine was sold as scrap metal and the person who brought it in to us got the complete motor including turbo, jakes and alternator and starter for only $175.00 from a military scrap auction.... It was a heck of a good deal.
