Anyone know the fuel pressure coming from the in-take pump on an 02' F-450?

My co-worker has a 2002 F-450 diesel. He's already had to replace the aft-axle tank, and later on he had to replace the in-tank fuel pump.

He's looking to add a Racor spin-on filter/seperator before the frame rail pump, but since the Racor is designed for vacuum only, I cautioned him about the pressure coming from the in-tank pump.

If the in-tank pump is pushing only a few psi, then he might not worry about it. If it's pushing 35 or so, then it increases the likelyhood of the filter weeping fuel.

Just curious if anyone knows the pressure the in-tank pump is designed to push to the frame-rail pump.

Thanx in advance......

If it's' a diesel, there's only the frame rail mounted pump.

The in-tank gizmo is a thermostatic mixer for return fuel, not a pump. If he puts the Racor on the suction side of the frame rail pump, it'll work fine.

Why do the aft tank trucks have that compared to the forward tank trucks?

Does the metal versus poly tank have anything to do with it?

All the diesels, no matter where the tank is mounted just have the mixer inside the tank and a frame mounted fuel pump.
