batteries died now i get a ABS light.. whats going on?

So did not run the truck for 2 days and went to start it Monday afternoon and it was dead... a few clicks and groans but pretty much no volts.. Throw the charger on the batteries and leave for 5 hours.. when i come back it has enough juice to start (just) so i leave it running for a hour.. by this time I’m getting 12.4V when the engine is not running and 13.7 when it is. So i think im good to go.. i clean the terminals on the leads and the batteries and hook everything back up. one last test and everything looks good so i leave it for the night..

This morning i climb in and yep... you guessed it.. DOA. not having time to mess with it i just jump in the Jeep and off to work. I stop in at Wal-Mart and $165 later i have 2 new batteries.. chuck them in and as you would expected she fires right up... but the ABS light goes out and then comes back on..???? I leave that for a few min and check my charging circuit and we are all ok, then shut down.. Restart and the same thing again.. the ABS light is back... So i give up and im all ears.. any suggestions as to why i have an ABS light now and if there is an easy way to clear it without some kind of scanner? Thanks in advance as always.. Dave

Re: batteries died now i get a ABS light.. whats going on?

The lamp will self cancel after many, many key cycles.... but the ABS will not function as long as the lamp is illuminated. If you have access to a scan tool that can read ABS codes, you will likely see a code to the effect that "a low voltage has been seen".... Clearing the code will get the ABS up and running immediately. Otherwise, the module will want to be sure that the low voltage condition wasn't a power supply problem.
