Re: BEST BATTERY REPLACEMENTS

I've put the walmart batteries in both my trucks and have been happy with them so far. It'll be several years before I can judge their lifespan as good or bad but they certainly start the trucks easy enough. You're thinking batteries several years in advance of when you should need them by my way of thinking.

I replaced the original batteries in both trucks at about the six year point... figured that was long enough but didn't feel like I was taking any chances going that long.

Re: BEST BATTERY REPLACEMENTS

Greetings,

Costco is an excellent battery store. I have heard this over and over again from many people that use and go through batteries in RV's, boats, trucks, etc. I forget who makes them for them, but they are a top notch company last time I checked...3 years ago.

Other than that there are the big names like trojan and such.

Peace and Blessings

Re: BEST BATTERY REPLACEMENTS

The October '06 issue of Consumer Reports rates the NAPA 8465 as the #1 performer over the whole set of tested batteries.

Of the 18 Group 65 batteries tested (the stock batteries for the PSD are Group 65) the NAPA 8465 at approx $80 was #1, the Duralast 65-DL at approx $60 was #2, and the Kirkland Signature 12866 at approx $55 was #10. The Duralast was given the CR Best Buy award.

Re: BEST BATTERY REPLACEMENTS

I had the original Motorcraft in my 97 PDS for almost 5 years. Dealer had them at a very reasonable cost, less than $75 each. We have also used NAPA Legend Gold in other PSD work trucks with very good results also.

Re: BEST BATTERY REPLACEMENTS

My 1997 PSD was bought in mid-late '96....just replaced original batteries last year (August, 2005). If I had been somewhere I could have gotten Motorcrafts I would have, but being out of town I had to get the only thing available which was Autolite batteries from Kragen.

They may have not made CR top ten list but you can beat personal experience sometimes.

Re: BEST BATTERY REPLACEMENTS

Check uot Johnson Controls website and you will find they make a lot of the name brands like Diehard,Duralast,Everstart,Kirkland, and many OEM brands as well as the Optimax. I have used the Kirkland 975 cca in my Powerstrokes as well as their deep cycles in my RV and Trolling motors and have had good luck with them.
