Brake switch question

I put a new brake pedal switch in my 04 f-250, and after installing, it won't go into gear. Any suggestions?

The first question HAS to be "why did you replace the brake switch?".

Brake Switch

I replaced the switch because I was given a code to do so. The reader said "Brake Switch out of range". The reason I had it checked was because of a rough idle, and it was dying on me when I applied the brakes. After putting on the new switch, the problems went away. But, I had the issue with it not going into gear after installing. The part I used was a BWD brand switch. I am waiting on Monday to get an OEM Ford switch to see if there is a difference.

All good now. I changed to an OEM switch, and the gear shift now works. After putting this switch on, I found out that I had a bit more expensive problem. The problem with the idle turned into a bad surge. Turns out, it was my ICP Sensor all along. After around $500 or so, the truck is back to normal.
