Re: cab clearence lights

Many people have - do a search. I remember something like they cost $300 installed at dealer or $150 installed by you. Do a search.

Re: cab clearence lights

I was looking into doing this and the ford dealer told me I could not because the roof was double paneled and I would never beable to acces the roof from inside once i drilled through. I was looking for some input on this.

Re: cab clearence lights

there are some areas that are double (there is an inner and outer roof panel, but you can access the lights. ford does not put the harness in and weld it shut.

Re: cab clearence lights

I put my own clearance lights on a few months ago. It's not bad, just takes patience and the willingness to drill 15 holes in your roof. I haven't tried installing strobes in them, but I have strobes in my front corners and tail and reverse ligts for the fire dept. The tubes are pretty big and the space in the clearance lights is very limited. I don't see how you would put strobe tubes in them along with the regular light bulbs, especially with the way they stick out on the outside of the fixture. I'm sure it could be done, but you would probably have to drill extra holes in the roof and really know what you're doing. Make sure you get it right the first time!

Re: cab clearence lights

www.auto_barn.com has the clearance lights for less than 55.00 a set of five. simple to install. and yes you can put hide-away strobes in them but you have to take the light socket out for the clearance light so all you will have is the strobe bulb in it.
