About to change to ELC coolant in a few days, and wondering how much coolant/water mix you come up with after the full flush? I have (4) 5 gallon containers w tops that I can pump the fluid into once caught in the kiddie pool. Just wondering how much there is, and also where you take it (PepBoyz, Murrays, etc take that much)
Your county should have a household hazardous waste recycling center and all you have to do is show that you are a resident of that county and they will dispose of it for free.
Your capacity is 8 gallons mixed. So after a complete drain, and then flushing for a few minutes maybe what 10-12 gallons? I did that caught the colored stuff. Then kept flushing with distilled water for maybe 10 more gallons while letting it drain onto the driveway. Then I went to the Fleetwood ELC from IH.

Seriously, look in the phone book. There has to be a disposal site. That or call the auto parts stores and ask around.

Many auto dealerships and repair garages have agreements with local authorities and accept used anti freeze. That in addition to recycling facilities at the local land fill were places I have used.

If you have a pepboys they will take it. They may tell you that they only take used oil. If they say that just tell them that there is know where to take it and ask them what they recommend. I had one guy at pepboys tell me that i was out of luck if know one would take it and that i would have to just hold on to it or toss it in the trash. I said that was bullstuff. I asked him what they do with there fluids when they do flushes and they said they had a barrell that it goes into. I ended up telling the supervisor that his employee told me to trash it and they decided to take all and any fluids that i had and they would dispose of it for me free of charge anytime.

Reason: fixit
Just as an fyi, I dropped off trans oil & morot oil at O'Reilly/Murrays, and they don't take coolant.
My county has biweekly hazardous materials dropoffs free. I ended up with just under 20 gallons, and allowed probably 4-6 gallons of the last distilled water drain in the driveway (no green whatsoever in it).
That coolant flush was a pain in the butt, and did take me quite a long time. I was surprised at how long the radiator takes to drain. But, well worth it to change to the ELC while doing that, so I never have to do it again.
Thanks for the help, as usual. Stuff like this is exactly why i renewed my "supporting member" status.
