Totally mystified
OK, now I'm really confused. If you think I'm nuts after reading this, I don't blame you.
I pulled the instrument cluster completely off so that I could inspect the backside. It's easy to trace the printed circuit connections on the back and see where they go. One contact of the cruise indicator light connects to a printed circuit path that is obviously ground, as it is common to all of the lights. The other connects to a path that leads to pin 13 (4th from the left) of the center multi-pin socket. The mystery is that the corresponding multi-pin plug has no contact and no wire in location 13, and I double-, triple-, and quadruple checked to make sure I was looking at the right plug and the correct orientation. The wear pattern on the socket contacts verifies that there never has been a plug (male) contact inserted at that location. So, there is no path for power to the cruise indicator light, and there never has been. The problem is that it was working until about a month ago. Honest! No, really, I saw it with my own eyes!
They're coming to take me away, hee-hee, ho-ho..............
