driver's side door chime without key

When my driver's side door is open and no key in the ignition, I still get a door chime. I assume this isn't the intended functionality? Is there an easy fix?

I saw the posts about removing the piece of metal from the ignition cylinder, and I checked that out, but everything looked normal and the problem didn't change. I just bought the truck used, but it's still under warranty. However, if it's an easy fix, I'd rather not waste the time taking it to the dealer for something simple that I can fix.

That isn't normal unless you have left the parking lights or head lights on. It should not "ding" if there is no key in the ignition unless as stated some lights are left on.

Re: driver's side door chime without key

That's what I figured. I checked to make sure all lights are off, and I still get the dinging. That chime is loud after a few minutes!

A little squirt of WD 40 in the key slot and work the key in and out about a dozen times and squirt one more shot and work the key several more times and you should be golden, good luck ,Larry
