Electric Window Problems

I've been having a problem with my driver's side window sticking (stops working). There does not seem to be any problem with any of my other three electric windows - I use them all the time with zero problems.

How can I check to find out if the problem is with the switch or the motor (actuator?)? If I put the window down I can 'play' with the switch and it will go back up but I've been stuck a few times and had to leave the window down (didn't have time to keep 'playing' with the window switch). The motor (actuator) does not sound like it's making any noises and the speed of the up/down seems to be normal (on the rare occasion I can get it to work).

Help!?!?!?!

I think the drivers side window also has a seperate relay for the express down feature, could be your problem, I think it is located on the fuse panel inside the cab.

i replaced my driver side window motor last night after fiddling with it just as you have done. i agree with the other two comments- there is a relay #4 for my '99 inside the cab and typically 30 amp circuit breaker in engine compartment. when replacing i noticed that there was not any grease on teeth of window regulator- i corrected that and also lubed the replacement motor's gear ( Cardone). put it all back together and window did not move. relay clicked and i replaced with one in stock. window moved 2 inches. removed circuit breaker and replaced with 30 amp fuse. window took off - cycled up and down numerous times. put existing relay back in. everything still good. took out 30 amp fuse and installed existing 30 amp circuit breaker. window up and down but a bit slower, hard to tell not going to time it either. i think that these windows get jambed up just as other person noted. i was planning on sliming the rails with a silicone product as i did the door weatherstripping. i did not test the original motor, could not turn gear when it was out, but i think that these regulators need to be greased well, windows can't stick in the guides- difficult in winter and patience exercised so as to not break the windows when stuck.

Problem found

This is an OLD post that I started but I thought I report my conclusion. I finally pulled the door multi-switch out and started 'hot-wiring' posts till I figured out what electrical connector (on the switch) made the windows go up and down. I isolated the drivers side window for 'up' and 'down' and had no problem getting it to go down but I had to bypass the switch to get it back up. So...I 'hot-wired' the window up...broke off the post that controls the window down (so I don't accidentally put it down) and now I need to order a new multi-switch...clearly the switch was bad.
