Electrical Gremlins

I had the door ajar/dome light staying on under 10 mph/cruise indicator not working problems. I sprayed the latches with WD-40. The door ajar light went out... dome light starting working light it should... cruise control indicator lights up like it should now.
The problem is that now every time I turn on the headlights, the number 8 fuse in the high voltage fuse box blows. It blows as soon as the switch hits the parking light position. When it blows the running lights on the truck go out(all of them - leaves me with 2 headlights on and nothing else) and the instrument cluster doesn't light up. I cut the wiring going to the door lock actuators thinking one of them was the problem but it didn't help a thing.
I work at night so this obviously a big problem. Any suggestions/ideas greatly appreciated.

I would start looking for a shorted wire somewhere. Check everything that is shared with the #8 fuse.

I'd agree. Start by pulling the fuse and connect an ohmmeter between the output terminal of the fuse and ground. Turn the headlight switch to park and see if the meter indicates a short. If so, start pulling bulbs and check the with meter each bulb. If that doesn't make the meter read something other than a short, then it's in the wiring itself. Might be just a shorted bulb - weirder things have happened.

Good luck

The fix...

The problem was in the clearance lights... wire had rubbed through the coating and was shorting to the roof. Thanks for the help.
