F-350 Truck Weight How Much???

I know the year and truck does'nt fit here, but "General Questions" was the closest I see here. I have an 89 F-350, single cab,460 gas engine, with an 8' dump body, you're typical landscaper/masons dump. Does anyone have an idea what it weighs, I have a 9000 lb. lift , was wondering if it would handle it.

Re: F-350 Truck Weight How Much???

My truck weighs about 8,700 lbs. It is newer, with the diesel, and 4 door and heavy bumpers. I don't know about the weight of your dump bed, but I can't imagine your total would be over 9,000 lbs.

I know this is obvious, but you could always run down to the nearest Truck stop with scales and weigh her.

Just whatever you do, use positive mechanical locks on your lift before you get under there. Yelling "help me" while being under an F350 wouldn't be a good way to start the new year.

Re: F-350 Truck Weight How Much???

Actually I use the truck around the farm for snowplowing and firewood etc. so I can't get it to a scale its unregistered. It is 4x4 by the way. I do have the mechanical locks both sides and can let the lift down on them, also have the big stabilizer stands, can put one on each end.

Re: F-350 Truck Weight How Much???

I think your going to be under 9k. The late 80's and early 90's trucks were a lot lighter than the current Superdutys.

Example: 93 F350 4x4 std cab srw 7.3 factory turbo diesel with 5 spd manual Weighed in at 6300# the same truck in built in 04 weighs in the neighborhood of 7400#. My '05 supercab with auto weighs 7800#.

So if you take 9000#-6300#= 2700# for your dump body + any additional equipment and be able to use your lift.

Good luck

9200 lbs for an '08 Superduty? No wonder the mileage sucks. Mine weighs 8300 lbs, but that's also with a bunch of added accessories like a lift, stereo, full tank of fuel, and me in it!
