How do I adjust the parking brake on an 01 F550 dual rear on a Dana 135 axle? It has disc brakes, and I can't find any rubber plug on the backing plate hiding a star head bolt as mentioned in some threads. Pictures if possible. Thanks
Check your gmail e-mail account. I sent you a Word doc with the procedure - including an illustration - from the workshop manual.
But basically, unless your F-550 is a motorhome, then you have the same parking brake as an F-250. There is a rubber plug on the back of the hub. Remove that plug to access the "star" adjuster.
On a 2001 that "rubber" plug is probably hard and stiff and dirty and doesn't look anything like rubber. But it's probably there.
My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it a coupla years ago. I drove a hand-me-down 2003 F-150 SuperCrew 4.6L 2V for a while, but it was unacceptable for towing more than a rowboat. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat that tows my 5,000-pound TT like a dream.
I got the brakes adjusted. After attempting it with all sorts of screwdrivers, I bought a brake spoon adjustment tool for $6.50 and it worked great. Turning the star wheel counterclockwise (looking from the front of the vehicle) tightened the pads.
