Looking around my front end today, I noticed axle housing dust seal (just inboard of the u-joints) has come out of the housing, just hanging loose. Its the same on both sides. Also a loose one outboard of the u-joint. Tried pushing them back in, but no luck. Is this something I need to be concerned about? No oil present. I have manual hubs.
these really aren't needed, these fords are the only trucks i have ever seen with them. i guess they are trying to keep some of the crap from getting in the axle tube
When I had my ball joints replaced they replaced the dust seals..wouldnt you know it they are dangling out again just like before I had them done. Wouldnt worry about it too much
Last time i changed the oil in my truck i noticed the passenger side dust seal was loose. Just got under their today and the passenger side one has worked its way back in and the driverside is out now. Its wierd but im gonna watch it and see what happens.
