Question Help identify a wire under steering column

I had the cover off today to get to the fuse panel and I found a wire that had been evidently spliced, then unspliced and put back stock by the P.O. with no wiring connector or tape or anything covering the bare wires. It is directly under the steering column and it is the front-most red wire on the wiring plug. It is a pretty thick wire compared to most under there. Can anyone tell me what this wire goes to?

Will need more info than that. Lets start with the year and model, a picture would help and then a pic. of the plug that the wire comes from. There are ALOT of wires under there.

It is a 2006 CC 4X4, My camera is MIA, but it is the plug directly under the steering wheel/column. If you take the cover off below the steering wheel, it is right there in front. He had just "shaved" the insulation off the wire and had a wire wrapped around it. I cut it and spliced it back together. It appears to have power only when the switch is turned on, so I am going to use it for my air horn and compressor relays. Hope it is ok! I'll report back if my truck burns to the ground :-)

I found out what it went to. I shorted the wire out and it popped one of the ignition fuses. Mystery solved. Thanks for your help!
