hub-centric factory wheels suck

Got the urge to put my aftermarket wheels back on. I had to get the factory harley wheels off. After the winter they were corroded on. Took a 10 pound sledge hammer and a board to get the back ones off. About 5 minutes of pounding per side. This was on a hoist, I would never have been able to change a flat on the side of the road with the wheel stuck on like that.

Re: hub-centric factory wheels suck

A thin coat of anti-seize paste around the lip of the hub will take care of that. I would keep the hub centric wheels on.

Re: hub-centric factory wheels suck

Yea, those wheels were interesting. Walked out to install the new Husky splashguards last night and with a couple turns of the front wheels, the fronts were on. Then came the backs... I kicked, pounded and wacked for about 1/2 hour and then figured a 50K truck should cooperate a little better than that. Why doesn't Ford think of the Anti Sieze when they press the wheels on at the factory? How would you get a rear flat off? Drive with the lug nuts off until the wheel loosens up and passes you?
