I scratched my paint

I need your help if you can, my rotors were going out and I kept on driving them for a while, when I came to wash my truck it was like my paint was sandpaper feeling, and after I got done washing it I found scratches on my paint which must be from the rotor shavings getting on my paint and me hand washing it. Is there anything I can do to fix my scratches? They arn't deep and not to many but its driving me nuts so if you can please help me

Re: I scratched my paint

Try a wax or a polishing compound.

Re: I scratched my paint

If it were mine, I would remove the wax with dishwashing soap, claybar to remove any remaining brake dust the might be imbedded in the paint and then compound/polish to try and remove the scratches.

Re: I scratched my paint

If you have never done any polishing with compound , you may want to have a detail shop look at it....

Re: I scratched my paint

FWIW, every detailer I have ever talked to says to start with the least abrasive method first. A clay bar would be a good start IMO. You should be able to find a Mothers clay bar or similar at any auto parts store.

Re: I scratched my paint

i dont want to hijack this post, but Tparker did you say that dishwashing soap will take of the wax. if so i guess i need another waxing, cause thats all i have ever used to wash my cars.
