Interior water leaks

Hi,

I'm having a bad problem with the drivers floor soaking wet anytime it rains. I've sealed all the holes I could find, replaced a transfer case shifter boot and still this morning the drivers floor was swimming. This time, the truck wasn't driven, so the flooding isn't forced in by driving.

It looks like in MIGHT be running down the inside of the firewall right in front of the pedals. Anyone else have this problem? Could it be a windshield seal problem? Big problem this year with all the rain in SoCal. Been thinking about pulling the carpet and Rhinolining...

Thanks,

Re: Interior water leaks

Sounds like a windshield problem to me. I see a lot of them leaking and they eventually kill the GEM module on the back of the fuse panel.

Re: Interior water leaks

Hmmmm, Ok,I'll look there. I've got the windshield wiper off, the plastic piece off, the front tire off, the inner fender out and i was thinking it might be the sealer/seam between the fender and the firewall. I'm thinking it was involved in enough of an accident to open that seam a bit. I've been running the hose I THINK below the lowest level of the windshield and I see the dribble of water running along the inside of the firewall right along the seam. I'll try and post a few pics...Be right back.

Re: Interior water leaks

Oh ya, btw, what is that electronic box hiding up under the inner fender?

Re: Interior water leaks

Ok, definately not from the windshield. Wish it was. There is almost no way to get to that seam. Too much metal in the way.

Re: Interior water leaks

Thanks for the info. Interesting place to put a computer. I've never had a seam leak before. Very difficult to get to. I silicon sealed everything I could get to. Hope it works. Otherwise, guess I'll have to move out to the desert!

Re: Interior water leaks

I hope you're using the genetic term Silicone. Use a NON Silicone seam sealer because silicone will peel off at some point and nothing will stick where silicone has been. Seam Sealer will last forever.
