Long time lurker.... First time buyer

I have finally been able to purchase my first diesel! I have been watching these forums almost since there inception. It's good to finally be able to participate. Man these things are hard to find with low miles at a reasonable cost. Anyway........

You can see the truck I purchased here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...76865&rd=1

I did have an independent inspection; however I'm not entirely sure that they knew a ton about Diesel's. I had them check the turbo and air cleaner for dust and a few other things I've read here. I'm interested in what some of the more experienced guy's here recommend checking and doing as soon as I pick it up? So far I'm planning on servicing the cooling system, thinking about fuel modifications, changing dif. and transmission fluid, and a couple other little things. Anyone have any other suggestions and comments?

I know a couple guys have access to the Ford service records, if someone wouldn't mind checking on this VIN I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advanced for any info you can share!

Mike

Re: Long time lurker.... First time buyer

aspen_leaf,

First welcome, and congrats on your purchase. I'm not even close to being an all knowing guy on diesels, but I would check the brakes for uneven wear. Change the tranny fluid. Check for debris in your intake yourself, a white rag helps alot. Ball joints, tire wear, chnage the fuel filter, and change the oil.

I'd first add gauges, then intake, exhaust, and then chip. Just my experience. other people will chime in with thier recommendations.

Just remember to have fun with your truck, that's the most important thing.
