Minimum Tread Depth 4 Snow

Headed to the East Coast then up to Colorado in December / January from Texas - I have BFG 285x75 AT KO E-rated tires and am wondering what the minimum tread depth should be for snow and ice and slop. The tread is about half work and the siping is about gone - so useless.

Should I resipe or renew the tires or just not worry about it?

Thanks

That's going to have to be your call. You know your driving skills in the snow and how much tread you really have and who will be riding with you. Also how much insurance you carry.

My personal experience is, the more tread and siping the better. I've driven many a mile in snow with regular street tires in a rear wheel drive car.

If in doubt, new tires.
Good luck.

Thanks - I replaced them and got a pretty good deal - two were at 7/32 and 2 were at 8/32. Original was 15/32. Got about 30k miles and were prolly good for another 25 or so - which I think is pretty good considering a lot of towing and a 9k truck....I think I can sell these pretty quickly.

Thanks again
