Oil cooler flush - Diesel Forum

My truck is getting studs and other updated parts and work. Oil cooler is out and my deta temps were not to bad before this work. What is a good method of flushing the cooler before it goes back in. I am not having a new one installed due to not having bad deltas to begin with. Thanks.

You have it out,put in a new one. you won't have to put in a cooler later. Plus put in a coolant filter

The cooler is actually pretty cheap, and the Ford one is the best. Try Tousley Ford for the best price. It's the labour that kills you, not the part, in this case you are already doing most of the labour. If your really want to save the part, take it off and have a rad shop clean it for you.

Going with the new cooler. The shop had a new ford oem cooler for $375. I am just going to get it.

That is too much for just the oil cooler but it may be the whole oil cooler assembly (oil cooler and the assembly that it goes into... This is just the oil cooler alone with all necessary parts to install it. Tousley Ford Parts Depot Maybe half hour labor to put it into the oil cooler/ oil filter assembly. Maybe they are trying to sell you the whole assembly and not just the cooler?

Well I did get the cooler from Tousley and they overnighted it in time to be put back together. They are great to deal with.
