Overdrive On Or Off???

You guys with 37 inch tires and bigger do you drive around town with you're overdrive off and turn it on when you get on the freeway? Thats what I have been doing since I bought and lifted my truck until someone with 40 inch tires told me that I'm wasting my time even touching the overdrive button. Whats the deal? Is it just personal preference? I'm trying to preserve my stock tranny and turbo for as long as possible.

I could be looking up a dead horse's butt. I have an 01 with the mechanical diode and leave the OD button alone. I figure it puts less strain on it by allowing it to coast.
