preventing theft

Close call today, almost lost her...My passenger side door lock was popped and the ignition was hacked into pieces. The tow truck driver was able to start in a second with a screw driver. Someone must have spooked the lowlife who tried to steal her cause he should be in Mexico right now running who knows what across the boarder. I have no alarm or club (stupid me). What is the best investment to stop this from happening again?

Re: preventing theft

Welcome to the site. Judging from your username, I'd guess you're in Phoenix. I hear they get stolen all the time out there. I'd install an alarm system with some type of kill switch. They jimmied my door lock in San Antonio a week after I got my truck but didn't mess with the ignition. Jimmi jammers might prevent them from popping your door lock, but they could always just break the window. Good luck.

Re: preventing theft

Jimmi-jammers only work with hose clamps around the lock mechanisms. Get a Clifford 3.5 and the JJ's with hose clamps and at least you'll make it hard for them. I also did a heavy tint to keep them from seeing what I had inside. Also, get a lock fuel cap.

Re: preventing theft

I'd recommend my old stand-by - a pillow, a blanket, and a 40 cal. Glock with a plus-one mag extension. Nothing says; "Hello, can I help you?", like a large cal. weapon.....

Sorry for the troubles.

Re: preventing theft

I installed a heavy equipment battery disconnect on mine under the hood . Cat key turns it on and off. I only use it if its going to be sitting . I have a Crime stopper alarm witch I am not really happy with but it works . Cheap disconnect for me though . oh and sorry about your truck , they broke into mine about a month ago and got my laptop and some CD's, I felt violated ! Cop's got my laptop back last week but I cant have it yet !

I like it, but the .40 Glock is a six-cylinder in a world of V-8's. A more eye-popping little toy for the stupid thief would be the new Ruger snubbie in .454 Casull... Even if you miss, the powder burn would make the perp an easy burger to find...... LOL..

On another thread, someone gave a link to a anti-theft tool called 'Cyclops'. Very simple to install, even an idiot like me can do it and it will make the truck simply NOT start..

Best to you....

Re: preventing theft

Install any engine cutout, alarm, even a visual device will help ie.. the club or others, --- I get to talk with these fools when we catch them and they all say they look for the easy, fast target! -- just remember that if they really want it, nothing is going to stop them...
