Rotella oil question

Hey folks,

Quick oil question for you... It may be a dumb question, but you don't know if you don't ask...

I am moving into a new house and found some Rotella that I packed away 3 years ago. I have one gallon unopened and two gallons that I made up from the 1 qt that was left over from other oil changes.

My question is if this oil has never been used, is it OK to use after at least 3 years of being packed away? I've never really thought of this. I've obviously been changing my oil, I just forgot about packing this away.

Let me know what ya'll think.

Thanks,

Bryan

Yes, it will be fine as long as your opened ones are not contaminated. Oil never really "wears out" even in your engine. It just loses it additives and become contaminated and/or diiluted.

How about I let you know what Shell thinks. They think it has a 4 year shelf life.

Hey guys thanks for the replies... it appears it should be alright. The new one still has the seal. The others aren't contaminated. No trash or anything was in the containers. I'll probably use it next oil change (coming up soon), unless anyone else answers with other possibilities...

Thanks again.
