Starter issues

Hi all,

So I had to replace my Starter the beginning of this last Summer. No biggie, after that many miles I would expect things like that to need replacing.
My issue is now that it's getting cold in the mornings, the new starter is sticking, or not engaging the first couple of times I turn the key. Seems to finally 'unstick' and then is fine for the rest of the day. Only happens when the temp goes below freezing.
Can I spray the snot out of it with WD-40 to remedy the problem? Any body have a suggestion how I might be able to fix it, other than replace this one too? Of course I can't find my receipt to take this one back...

thanks

Starters shouldn't need any lube - if its sticking, don't risk damage to the flexplate, replace the starter.

I'd count that one a loss and go buy yourself a DB Electrical hi-torque starter. The price for what you get can't be beat. Besides, their customer service is outstanding. I've dealt with them with a starter that was doing the same thing. Ended up getting a new one and never looked back. I've just bought an alternator from them so I'll keep going back to them again. Look into it.

As far as the starter not working, there could be a bad spot on the windings, or the solonoid is going bad. Who knows. Like dlblazer said, don't try to fix it. Replace it. It's not worth the headache.
