stock tires on super duties

What are the stock tires that come on Super Duties? Brand, size, and most importantly the load rating.

Re: stock tires on super duties

All '99-up SuperDuty factory tires have been load range E.

Size depends on the year, and whether your F-350 has single rear wheels (SRW) or dual rear wheels (DRW).

For your '03 F-350 SRW, stock size was LT265/75R16, load range E.

If your '03 F-350 is a Dooley, then stock size (and the biggest size that will properly fit the Dooley wheel) was LT235/85R16, load range E.

Brands vary. For '03 I think the most common brand was Firestone. But Ford also mounted some Goodyear and some BFGoodrich and some General. My '99.5 came with Generals. For '05-up, the most common brand is Continental.

Smokey is correct except he left out the Pirelli Scorpions that my '03 and a lot of others came with. I also saw some with Michelins, which may, or may not have been special ordered.

Re: stock tires on super duties

So what weight will a load range E tire take compared to a D?

Depends on the tire size.

For LT265/75R16,
load range D = 3,042 pounds @ 65 PSI
load range E = 3,415 pounds @ 80 PSI

A load range D tire could have up to 6,084 pounds on the rear axle without overloading the tires. If you loaded the pickup to 6,084 on the rear axle, you'd probably have about 5,000 pounds on the front axle. So your GVW would be over 11,000 pounds. Since your GVWR is only 9,900 pounds, then load range D tires in size LT265/75R16 is all you need if you don't severely overload the pickup over the GVWR of the pickup.
