Stuck in low

I have my 2000 F250 Super Duty 4x4 stuck in low range. I have done the stop, neutral, select bit but nothing. I thought there might be a fuse/relay gone but cannot find a bad one. Is there any way to manually up shift this transmission (automatic w/odrive) into high range so I can drive it home? Thanks

Re: Stuck in low

Try putting the truck in neutral, and letting the truck roll backwatds slightly. This should help relieve some of the "pressure" in the transfer case allowing you to shift out of 4 low.

Good luck,

Marc

Re: Stuck in low

IN addition to being stopped and in neutral, you have to have your foot on the brake.

Re: Stuck in low

Did you get it to shift out of low range and make it home?

Re: Stuck in low

Had the same problem, after i had the trans replaced i was backing out of driveway and herd a clunk, transfer went into low and would not come out. The nylon gear on the transfer case that switches from hi to low broke and fell into low. That is what my mechanic told me had happen, replaced gear and everything is o.k.

Re: Stuck in low

I've had issues with my truck in low also. My lever wouldn't budge out low so I rocked it back and forth tried different rpm's and gear selections. With two hands and a lot of vulgar language it got out. I think it might have something to do with my linkage.

I suspect he is still trying to get home in low range, that's why he never posted back with the results. A couple of hundred miles at 30mph on the back roads (no expressways) would make for a long boring drive home.
Merry Christmas everyone, Joe

Re: Stuck in low

I'd have that xfer case checked out, I just rebuilt mine and there are some plastic bushing things that is on the shifter and if those are wore out it you are going to have probs with shifting in and out of low, and if it's not fixed soon you will have to replace some gears etc......

Re: Stuck in low

...or simply step on the brake while trying to shift it! That's the one thing he didn't say he was doing and 99% of the time that is the culprit. I sure hope he comes back to tell us what happened...
