Turn one Side of a Rotor? - Diesel Forum

I have some new ART rotors that have about 8000 miles and one side of the right front got slightly scored by, I assume, some debris/grit that got in the pads during some off roading. So, is it possible to just turn one side of the rotor? If not I am leaning toward leaving them alone.

If they are only slightly scored, I would forget about it. Won't hurt a thing.

You can turn just one side, no problem. Of course, say if one side of a vented rotor was trashed, you can't machine the one side way down and call it safe just because it is above max thickness (which is determined by both sides being machined equelly).

If it's just minor, I'd say leave it alone. So sense taking any meat off unless it's warped or glazed.
